Stephen Shore
Stephen Shore (born in 1947 with New York) is a American Photographe . He is famous to have taken part in the recognition of photography color like art with whole share, at one time when the black and white were prevalent.
He considers that there exist two kinds of photographer: the analytical one and the synthetic one. The first analyzing the image and structuring it according to what it is in physical space. While the second creates space and the structure according to what the photographer wants analayser. He puts in this category the painters or the artists like Jeff Wall. He regards himself as an analytical photographer. All its work is in fact a study of photography. This medium is for him a place of exploration for single phenomena with the photograph.
Anecdotes
- Self-educated, it approaches photography precociously. At 10 years, at the moment when it starts to take stereotypes, one offers the book to him American Photographs of Walker Evans, which will influence it largely.
- is 14 years old, it meets Edward Steichen, then administrator of the Photographie department to the Museum off Modern Art (MoMA, New York). It presents its images to him and Steichen buys three of them to him!
- is 17 years old, it meets Andy Warhol, and photographs the Factory and its world of 1965 to 1968 - is certainly the best years.
- In 1971, to 24 years, an exposure is devoted to him to the Metropolitan Museum off Art, becoming the 2e photographer with being thus devoted of alive sound, the first being Alfred Stieglitz!
