Stephan Sarrazin is a French racing driver born the November 2nd 1974 with Alès (Gard). It runs at the same time on track (it even disputed a Grand Prix of Formula 1 in 1999) and in rally or it gained the championship of France 2004.

Biography

Stephan Sarrazin begin with karting or it gained two championships of France before passing to the single-seater. In 1997 he is vice-champion of France of Formule 3 with stable LD Autosport, in spite of a reduced budget. This result enables him to integrate the Formule 3000 in 1998 with the stable Apomatox, the TEAM junior of the team F1 Prost Peugeot of which he becomes the test pilot.

In 1999 it finishes 5th championship of formula 3000 and disputes the Grand Prix of Formula 1 of Brazil, with the stable Minardi or it replaces Luca Badoer wounded. It is constrained with the abandonment following a violent consecutive route exit caused by a mechanical breaking.

In 2000 and 2001 it continues its mission of test pilot at Prost Grand Prix and disputes only some races formulates 3000 of them. It makes its beginnings in rally in 2001 and, with the general surprise, gains the category groups NR of the rally of the VAr as of its first participation in the wheel of a Mitsubishi Lancer.

In 2002 following the withdrawal of Prost Ghent price it devien tester at Toyota. In 2003 Stephan disputes the Championship World Series by Nissan within the stable Racing Engineering.

In 2004 it decides to pass definitively to the Rally and takes part in the Subaru-FFSA challenge with concerned one complete season in championship of France of the rally at the wheel of Subaru Impreza prepared by the team First Motorsport. It gains the challenge in front of pilots rally much more experienced, then gains the championship of France of the rally as of its first participation. The same year it takes part in 3 rally of the championship of the world with for better result one 4th place with the rally of Catalonia.

Following these results it integrates the official stable Subaru and argument the championships of the world 2005 and 2006.

In 2006 it course also in endurance with Aston Martin Racing at the 24 Hours of Mans and in the championship American Mans Series or it gains 3 victories, 6 podiums, 2nd of the general classification and the title of better rookie.

In 2007 its contract with Subaru not being renewed it did not join Peugeot to dispute the 24 hours of Mans and the championship of endurance Mans Série (LMS) on the Peugeot 908. With Pedro Lamy like fellow-member, it gains the 1000 km of Valence, Nurburgring and Spa-Francorchamps. Three victories which make it possible the crew free-Portuguese to allocate the title in category LMP1. With Pedro Lamy and Sebastien Bourdais, it also finished in the second place of the 24 hours of Mans.
