Stephan Peterhansel

Stephan Peterhansel , known as Peter , born the April 6th 1965 with Échenoz-la-Méline, is a pilot of motor bike and car of Rally-raid French.

Biography

Childhood

1965: the April 6th, it is born only sons with Échenoz-la-Méline, to 5 km in the south of Vesoul in Franche-Comté, of a father Artisan Plombier and of a mother Secrétaire in a garage Automobile. It is an emblematic figure of Vesoul where it resides since its childhood.

Following the separation of his parents, it grows in his grandparents with Vesoul, street Bernard Plassy. His/her father takes part in small rallys car and in races of Trial.

1973: at 8 years, his/her father offers his first motor bike to him, initiates it with its passion, and takes it along with him in the competitions. The forest, the reliefs, big spaces, and the circuits of Moto-cross of the surroundings of Vesoul become its playing fields and of drive.

Champion of France of skateboard

1975: at 12 years, it is already bitten by the Virus of the competition and envies it always to exceed itself. It is impassioned for the Skateboard, which has just arrived of the the United States. It is involved with his buddies two to three hours per days, after the school.

1976: at 13 years, it begins the competition from skateboard in free figures, and slalom.

1977: at 14 years, he is Champion of France of skateboard: " Slalom" , " Appear Libre" , " Descente" and " Combiné". It integrates the team of France and takes part in the championships of Europe. “ It was my principal passion. I spent my weekend and my evenings there.

Competition of motor bike

1978: at 15 years, it completely stops the skateboard with the impression having made the turn of it. It decides to be devoted to the competition of Moto thanks to the support and to the financial aid of his father. It gains its first races while being registered fraudulently under the identity of his father, then is often found disqualified because it does not have the necessary age. It becomes aware that it has a gift for the competition.

1980: at 17 years, it decides to stop the school for which it is not very gifted. He wants to become pilot professional, and his/her father proposes to him to finance it, to support it and involve it one year and, in the event of failure, to integrate it in his company of family plumbing.

1981: at 18 years it has finally the license and the right to make competition legally. Financed and supported by his father, it becomes Championnat of France of Enduro 1981.

It takes down at the same time its first professional contract and wages with the mark of Swedish motor bike Husqvarna which makes it run every weekend.

It émancipe, leaves his grandparents and settles with Vesoul with Corinne, his future wife and " super support of Sportif" Champion; who actively follows it everywhere in all his competitions.

1987: at 21 years, it leaves with its idols Hubert Auriol and Cyril Neveu on the Paris-Dakar with the team Yamaha her idol youth André Malherbe (World champion of Moto-cross)

African rallys motor bike

1987: in September, Yamaha urges it to run the African rallys , and gets material and mechanics to him.

1988: first race Paris-Dakar, 18th of general classification 1988. Its fellow-member André Malherbe finishes at the end of two days Tétraplégique, after a dramatic fall. In spite of this drama, Peter caught the Virus of Paris-Dakar.

It Marie with Corinne with which he settles with Vesoul and always gains the championships of the world by teams (International Six Day Enduro) of nations of the speciality with Yamaha.

1989: second Paris-Dakar; it finishes 4th general classification 1989, with the foot of the podium.

1990: it is joined at Yamaha by Cyril Neveu, the god of his dreams and new fellow-member. Its first Nicolas wire is born during the race. This day, it gains the special one and takes the head of the rally. But three stages later, it is lost in the desert and gives up. In April, it gains the Rallye of Tunisia then in May the Rally of the Morocco.

1991: at 25 years, it is the dedication and the celebrity: it gains its 1st Paris-Dakar motor bike with Yamaha, in front of the manufacturer leader Honda.

1992: second victory with the Paris-Dakar: Paris the Cape and victory with the Paris - Moscow - Beijing. Gilles Lalay, one of his/her best friends is killed on Paris-Dakar.

1993: 3rd Paris-Dakar victory. It continues the competition Enduro, and tests the races of car on ice with the Trophée Andros. In April, it has a second child, Melanie.

1994: Yamaha does not engage in Paris-Dakar, following problems of change of regulation.

1995: 4th Paris-Dakar victory.

1996: it gives up following an error of gas oil supply of the person in charge supply of the race.

1997: 5th Paris-Dakar victory: Dakar-Agadès-Dakar and equalization of the number of 5 victories with Cyril Nephew. He also gains the championship of the world of Enduro 250  cm ³ 2-time.

1998: 6th Paris-Dakar victory and record of the number of victory in front of Cyril Nephew. But a terrible suffering with the wrist during all the race, the fact of suffering the martyrdom and it cracks mentally. It lays down new objectives: Paris-Dakar conveys some (less physical), the championship of the world of enduro 400  cm ³ 4-time, and the Trophy Andros on ice under contract Nissan.

African rallys car

1999: it runs its 1st Paris-Dakar conveys some with Nissan and finished 7th with general classification, and recordman of 22 punctures.

2000: 2nd with the general classification of Paris-Dakar with its own stable, and a prototype car built by the French car manufacturer Méga and 3rd of the championships of France of Enduro. It runs the rally of the Morocco and the rally of Dubai with her Mega.

2001: Fixed price in Paris-Dakar because of an important sponsor of his stable which desists. Victoire with the Trophy Andros with Nissan and World champion of Enduro in the motor bike 250  cm ³ 4-time.

2002: Victoire of the rally of Tunisia and victory with the rally of Dubai.

2004: 1st victory with the automobile Paris-Dakar with Mitsubishi.

2005: 2nd victory in automobile Paris-Dakar with Mitsubishi.

2007: 3rd victory in automobile Paris-Dakar with Mitsubishi.
