Stephan Kélian Production
The company Stephan Kélian is founded in 1960 with Borough-of-Toll, by the three Kéloglanian brothers and thrives quickly, it also has a site with Romans, by forging its notoriety with its famous braided models.
First difficulties
The development of the company is fast: 141 paid into 1974,385 in 1985 and 620 in 1990, but since 1995, the situation worsened. 171 paid is laid off and the activities are partially delocalized.The Kélian company and its subsidiary companies, SK Retail and Mosquitos, which employ approximately 550 worker, declared on September 20th, 2002 in suspension of payment. It is then placed on September 26th, 2002 in file for bankruptcy, by the bankruptcy court of Romans-sur-Isère.
More than one thousand of people express on November 8th, 2002 with Borough-of-Toll and in the common neighbor of Romans-sur-Isère for the employment and the survival of the shoemaker of luxury. The demonstrators, among whom town councilors, also expressed fear that after Kélian, other shoemakers like Charles Jourdan or Robert Clergerie which makes manufacture the essence of their production with Romans, commune of 33.000 inhabitants, can have problems.
Three candidates present themselves for the resumption of the company:

Stephan Kélian was divided into ten entities different following her repurchase by the holding from the French Alain Duménil, who controlled already the costumes Smalto or Scherrer. An preliminary investigation was opened, on September 16th, 2005, by the public prosecutor of Valence on the conditions of the compulsory liquidation of Stephan Kélian Production following the denunciation, by the mayors of Romans and Borough-of-Toll (Drome) “fraudulent schemes” concerning the legal assembly.
