Stenotrophomonas
The sténotropomones ( Stenotrophomonas ) are a kind of proteobacteries (with negative Gram), Aérobie and multirésistante with the Antibiotiques.
It is very widespread in the environment (for example in water and the ground), but proves especially Pathogène at the immunosuppressed patients and those hospitalized in intensive care. One thus regards it as pathogenic a nosocomial. It causes infections as various as Méningite S, Endocardite S, Pneumonie S…
The Stenotrophomonas is heavily protected from antibiotics thanks to a membrane far from permeable and enzymes of the beta-lactamases type enabling him to hydrolize the molecules of the class of the Pénicilline S and the Céphalosporine S. Its elimination thus requires to employ certain antibiotic associations to which it is sensitive, like the Triméthoprime-sulfaméthoxazole or clavulanic ticarcilline-acid association. But of resistances start to appear.
This bacterium touching of the very weakened patients already, and having important resistances with respect to antibiotics, the infection by Stenotrophomonas has an high rate of mortality.
