Stellarator

The stellarator is a device similar to the Tokamak intended for the production of atomic reaction of fusion. Contrary to this last, the containment of the plasma is entirely carried out by the helicoid magnetic field created by the complex arrangement of reels around the torus.

This way is particularly required in Germany. Indeed, while the tokamaks have an operating process by impulse (currently), the stellarators by the form of plasma and the trajectories which they allow the atoms, authorize them uninterrupted an operation. The project Wendelstein 7.x in the course of construction with the Institut max Planck of plasma physics in Germany must make it possible to show this aptitude for continuous operation during the next years.
