Stefka Kostadinova

Stefka Kostadinova (in Bulgarian СтефкаКостадинова), born the March 25th 1965 with Plovdiv, is a Bulgarian Athlète practitioner the High jump.

After Olympic beginnings missed because of the Boycott of the countries of the Eastern bloc at the time of the Olympic Games of summer of 1984, it quickly becomes one of best world. It thus obtains the gold medal with the Championnats of Europe of athletics 1986 with Stuttgart, equalizes then beats the world records during the same year. It confirms its domination the following year by gaining the world title at the time Championnats of the world of athletics 1987 of Rome, leaf on this occasion its world records to increase it to 2,09 meters, record which was still not beaten nor equalized since.

At the time of the Olympic Games of summer of 1988 of Seoul it is beaten by American the Louise Ritter. She continues however to be the true queen of the discipline as its many titles indoor prove it, both in Europe and on a world level. In 1995, a few months after having given rise to a son, it gains its 2nd world title at the time of the Championnats of the world of athletics 1995 with Gothenburg then obtains finally the Olympic dedication at the time of the Olympic Games of summer of 1996 of Atlanta.

It puts an end officially to its career in 1999.

In 2003, it became ministers of sport of Bulgaria.
