Stefan Uroš V

Stefan Uroš (or Etienne Ouroche in French) V - in Serb Cyrillic СтефанУрош V нејаки / Stefan Uroš V Nejaki ), born towards 1336, dead the December 4th 1371, is the son and the successor of the emperor Stefan Uroš IV Dušan, sovereign Serb of the dynasty of the Nemanjić.

The sovereign " faible"

Controlling 1355 with 1371, it founded the monastery of Matejča. It is the last sovereign in hot line of the dynasty of the Nemanjić, since Tvrtko Ier, king of Bosnia in 1377 and founder of the dynasty bosnienne of Kotromanić, went down from there only by his/her maternal grandmother.

Under its reign, the central capacity in Serbia strongly weakens and the noble ones increase their autonomy. After its death, the empire Serbe will have disappeared, it will be replaced by several princes ( knezovi ) and " despotes". It besides was called Uroš " Faible" ( Nejaki ).

Dismemberment of the Serb empire

Uroš V, which also inherited the title emperor of its father forever be able to defend its empire, that they are attacks from abroad or threats interior. It was in conflict with Simeon Nemanjić, the half-brother of Dušan. The nobility and the church were however side of Uroš V, in spite of that, it forever which been able to recover the grounds that Simeon had taken to him: Simeon held all Serbia of the south and the Epire and the Thessalie, and Uroš successful to safeguard the area of Skopje and Dubrovčana, thanks to the assistance of his/her Helene mother. Serbia was divided into two empires. In 1371, he dies like the last emperor of Serbia and last representing Nemanjić, because he had never had of child of his Anca wife the girl of the prince de Valachie Nicolae Ier Alexandru.

Under its reign, in 1365, Vukašin Mrnjavčević whose son Marko Kraljević was immortalisé in the Serb popular songs, was crowned king in Serbia. Vukašin was killed in 1371 with the Bataille of Maritza.
