Stefan Karadja
Stefan Karadja (in Bulgarian: СтефанКараджа) of its true name Stefan Todorov Dimov (in bulgare : ТодоровДимов) is a Bulgarian Révolution naire , born the May 11th 1840 in Ikhme (today village of Stefan Karadjovo, depend on the obchtina of Bolyanovo, in the oblast of Yambol), within one of the oldest Bulgarian family clans, that of Binbelov.
In 1862, it is established with Belgrade, where it adhered to the Bulgarian League (in bulgare : Вторабългарскалегия) founded by Georgi Rakovski.
Of 1864 with 1866, it turns over in Bulgaria, alive in clandestinity in the Stara planina.
In 1867, after the death of Rakovski, it leaves to be established in Romania, taking part in the activities of Тайнияцентраленбългарскикомитет, and organizing, with Khadji Dimitar, a small troop of mercenaries made up of approximately 120 men, who passes to Bulgaria to perpetrate knacks against the Othoman occupant in spring 1868. Captured by the Turks, Stefan Karadja and Khadji Dimitar are hung the July 6th 1868 (July 18th in the Julien calendar).
Philately
The Bulgarian Poste associated Khadji Dimitar and Stefan Karadja, by honouring them, the July 25th 1988, at the time of the 120e birthday of their death, by the emission to a million specimens of a Timbre-poste of a facial value of 5 stotinki, comprising the legend 120 ГОДИНИОТГНБЕЛТАНАХАДЖИДИМИТАРИСТЕФАНКАРАДЖА, transliterated in 120 GODINI OT GIBELTA NA KHADJI DIMITAR I STEFAN KARADJA is, roughly, “120 years since the death of Khadji Dimitar and Stefan Karadja”.
