Steel hand
Main of Steel is a British series published in the 1st number of Valiant of June 6th, 1962 under the title of The Steel Claw (the steel claw). The series was taken again then by other draftsmen. In France, it was published in small size by subsidiary companies of the Groupe Vault.
Reprinted by Quality comics, a flashback made of Crandell (called Lewis Randell in this version) a reflective growing old secret agent on its career of criminal.
Thereafter, the character reappears in several mini-series whose Albion in 2005, created by Alan Moore, written by Leah Moore and John Reppion, with Shane Oakley and George Freeman with the drawings and who re-examines the return of many heroes (Janus Stark, Captain Hurricane, archie the robot, King Kong the robot…).

The character
Louis Crandell is the assistance of a scientist, professor Barringer, when an accident of laboratory makes him lose its right hand. He uses a metal prosthesis to substitute his lost member.
By testing a new ray, another accident of laboratory occurs. Consequently, any electric shock with the property to make it invisible for one limited period, except for its artificial hand.
Crandell starts by using its new gift to fly and becomes a criminal. Actually, the accident of laboratory deteriorated its personality, making of him a gangster.
Guerri, it joined the Brigade of the Shade , arranges secret British of service and espionage. Its steel hand is equipped with many weapons and tools in each finger (Magnum 357, drilling machine, diamond-edged disc…). Aidéde its invisibility, Louis Crandell fights against various criminal geniuses and the organization known under the name of F.E.A.R. (Federation for the Extortion, the Assassination and the Rebellion).
After his departure of the Brigade of the Shade , Louis Crandell buries during a time his equipment and becomes detective. But tracked by the extraterrestrial ones, it must again call upon its steel hand. Modified by professor Barringer, it from now on is ordered remotely.
Thereafter, its adventures lead it in South America, where it would continue to fight the crime.
