Staurikosauridae

Description

One knows little thing about Staurikosaurus which is necessary the oldest known dinosaur for a long time. It was described in 1970 by Edwin Colbert starting from the few found bones (the column, the bone jawbone and top of the back legs). It seems considering the size of the jaw that the head was to be rather large. The pointed teeth suggest a carnivorous mode. It is supposed that it was to measure 2m length and that it weighed 30kg. Living at the time of the Sorted average, it seems that he is at the same time the ancestor of the Sauropode S and the Théropode S.

The only known specimen was found in the south Brésil.
