Statistical institute of Quebec

The Statistical institute of Quebec was instituted by a law adopted by the National Assembly of Quebec on June 19th, 1998. Under the terms of this law, the new organization, which can be indicated under the name of “Quebec Statistics”, incorporates four administrative entities or organizations before independent: the Statistical office of Quebec, the Research institute and of information on remuneration, Quebec Health and the members of the personnel of the Ministry of Labor which were assigned before to the realization of the investigation into overall remuneration.

The Law on the Statistical institute of Quebec defines the mission of the organization as follows:

“The Institute has the role of providing statistical data which are reliable and objective on the situation of Quebec as for all the aspects of the Québécois company for which such information are relevant.

The Institute constitutes the privileged place of production and statistical information circulation for the ministries and organizations of the government, except with regard to such an information that those produce at administrative ends. He is the person in charge of the realization of all the statistical surveys of general interest.

The Institute establishes and holds up to date the population balance of Quebec. For this purpose, it collects and compiles the data in particular on the births, the marriages, the deaths, immigration and the emigration. It proceeds moreover, annually, with an estimate of the population of the municipalities.

The Institute informs the public of the state and the evolution compared of the overall remuneration of the employees governed by an collective agreement of the government, school commissions, colleges and establishments on the one hand and overall remuneration of the others paid inhabitants of Quebec of any category which it determines on the other hand. ”
