The institutions which have sponsored SDMX are International Settlements Bank, the European Central bank, the Statistical Office of the European Communities (Eurostat), the Fonds international currency (the IMF), the economic Cooperation organization and of development (OECD), the United Nations (division statistics) and the the World Bank.
The model of information SDMX is an implementation of the specification of register EbXML on the E-business.
Standards SDMX were recognized like standards ISO, with the statute of technical specification (ISO/Technical Specification 17369:2005).
The formats of message SDMX have two basic expressions: SDMX-ML (using syntax XML) and SDMX-EDI (using syntax EDIFACT and based on statistical message GESMES/TS). The standards include also additional specifications (for example specification of register, Web services).
