State of Potosí San Luis
San Luis Potosí is a State of Mexico located at the center-north of the Mexico.
Surrounded by the States of Jalisco, State de Guanajuato, Querétaro de Arteaga, Hidalgo, Veracruz, Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, State de Coahuila and State de Zacatecas, Potosí San Luis occupies a surface of 62.848 km ².
In 2005, the State counted approximately 2.610.414 inhabitants.
Potosí San Luis is divided into 58 municipalities. The capital is San Luis Potosí.

History
Formerly, the area was inhabited by the Huastèque S and Chichimèque S.
The Spanish discovered important layers of Or and money when they arrived in this area. This reference to the mining resources is found in the last part of the name of the State. The suffix Potosí , indeed, is given to the cities and areas rich in noble metals. Moreover, one finds the representation of two metals and the mines in the armorial bearings of the State.
