State de Zacatecas

Zacatecas is a State of Mexico surrounded by the States of Coahuila, San Luis Potosí, State d' Aguascalientes, Jalisco, State de Durango, Nayarit, Nuevo León, and State de Guanajuato. Zacatecas occupies a surface of 75.040 km ² and counts in 2005 1.367.692 inhabitants. The State is divided into 57 municipalities.

In XVe century, Zacatecas was known for the exploitation of the money mines. Today the money is always important for the saving in Zacatecas.

Demography

The state of Zacatecas counted approximately 1.367.692 inhabitants in 2005. Approximately 85% of the population are mongrel and 15% white. In 2000, the indigenous population of origin was 0,3%, or 4.309 people. Only the state of Aguascalientes has less of indigenous population of origin: 3.472; however, 0,4% of the population of Aguascalientes are indigenous. With the result that the state of Zacatecas is the state with the smallest proportion of indigenous population of origin of Mexico.
