State de Bayelsa
Bayelsa is a state in the south of the Nigeria.
History
The State de Bayelsa is resulting from the division of the State de Rivers. Its name is a contraction of that of the 3 areas which gave rise to the state: Arm, Yenagoa and Sagbama.
Geography
The State is bordered in western north by the State de Delta and in the east by the State de Rivers. It has a hundred kilometers of coasts towards the ocean Atlantique in the south and the west.
Divisions
The State de Bayelsa is divided into 8 LGA ( local Government Area ): Arm, Ekeremor, Kolokuma-Opokuma, Nembe, Ogbia, Sagbama, Southern Ijaw and Yenagoa.
Economy
Although the state is rich in Pétrole (more than 30% of the production of the country) the standard of living is one of weakest of the area, redistribution of the richnesses towards the population being done very badly. Majority of the inhabitants living of the incomes of the fishing and the Agriculture.
Culture
Contrary to the majority of the other states ethnic diversity is represented little, the Ijaw S forming more than 90% of the population.
