Stardust (group)

Stardust is a transitory group of music composed of Alan Braxe, Benjamin Diamond and Thomas Bangalter (half of duet Daft Punk), joined together the time of a collaboration for the title Music Sounds Better With You in 1998.

The title, imagined in December 1997, is built around a Sample of the song Fate of Chaka Khan and song of Benjamin Diamond. It is published on the label Roulé created by Thomas Bangalter. To the beginning of the year 1998, specimens of the Maxi are distributed to some DJs joined together for a musical conference with Miami. The title is a very fast success, and the request becomes with difficulty gérable for the Roulé independent label which cannot ensure the distribution immediately of it. There is then appearance of many bootlegs of which some are sold to thousands of specimens. In order to ensure the offer, the title is published with the individual format CD at Virgin.

Music Sounds Better With You invades the radio waves during the summer 1998 and climbs quickly at the top of the charts. The Clip, realized by Michel Gondry, knows his first diffusions on MTV. The impact is important: he is elected better individual dance year 1998 by the British magazine Mixmag and is used even as soundtrack with the political meetings of the RPR.

Sold with more than two million specimens in a few months, the Music Sounds Better With You of Stardust was number one in many countries, and became a title emblematic of the '' French touch ''.
