Star shaped network
In a topology of star shaped network , the computers of the network are connected to a central material system called concentrator (in English hub, literally hub of wheel). This one has as a role to ensure the communication between the various junctions.
Advantages:
- possibility of the addition of the nodes easily;
- facilitated localization of the breakdowns;
- disconnection of a connection does not paralyze the remainder of the network.
Disadvantages:
- more expensive than a network with bus topology (purchase of concentrators, cables);
- if the concentrator is defective all the network breaks down.
