Star of Bessèges
The Star of Bessèges is a cycle race with stages created in 1971, of category 2.1, which is run in the neighborhoods of Bessèges, in the Gard.
Disputed at the beginning of February, the shortly after the Grand Prix of Opening the Marseillaise, it traditionally opens to the professional season cyclist Frenchwoman of the races with stages.
Results 2007
The winner of the general classification of the edition 2007 is the Belgian runner Nick Nuyens, of the French team Cofidis, in front of the Belorusse Vasil Kiryienka of the team Tinkoff Credit Systems and of the Belgian Preben Van Hecke of the team Predictor-Lotto), accustomed podium of Star since it occupied the second place of the general classification of the back issue.The first of the five stages, which ran on February 7th in 148 kilometers of Pézenas to Palavas-the-Floods saw the runners vis-a-vis the rain and with the wind decorated of episodes of hail. It was gained with the sprint by Italian Angelo Furlan of the French team Crédit Agricole.
The second (Nimes - Saint-Ambroix, 149 km) was gained by Australian the Baden Cooke, detached at two seconds in front of the group, which ran with a shirt carrying a question mark instead of the name of its team, Unibet.com, this because of a legal procedure relating to the legislation of the bets in France.
The third ran of Cendras to Large-Combe the in 138 kilometers. She saw the victory of the Belgian Nick Nuyens, of the French team Cofidis, escaped in company of the Belorusse Vasil Kiryienka (Tinkoff Credit Systems) and of the Belgian Preben Van Hecke (Predictor-Lotto). This victory made it possible Nick Nuyens to reach the first place of general classification.
The fourth proceeded around the Fumades in 151 kilometers. It was gained by French Christophe Mengin of the Frenchwoman of the Plays detached at two seconds in front of the group.
The fifth and last stage proceeded on February 11th. She started from Gagnières to rejoin Bessèges in 148 kilometers and was gained by French Sebastien Chavanel of the Frenchwoman of the Plays, team which thus gained a second phase.

The winner of the general classification of the edition 2006 is the Belgian runner Frederik Willems, of the team Chocolade Jacques, in front of the Belgian Preben Van Hecke of the team Davitamon-Lotto, at 26 seconds, and the French Thomas Voeckler (Bouygues Telecom, at 32 seconds).The five stages were gained by:
