Star Wars (roleplay)

roleplays were drawn from the saga of the Star Wars (Star Wars) . The license was granted to several editors.

First version

In its first version, the Star Wars (Star Wars) is a American Roleplay published by West End Games in 1987 (Descartes, 1988 in France). Obviously, the universe is that of the space saga éponyme. This version, using exclusively Die S with six faces, knew two editions in 1987 and 1992, as well as an 2nd edition revised in 1996; it gave rise to the D6 System and was thus called a posteriori Star Wars D6 .

The roleplay the Star Wars privileges the action of any kind and it is rare that the characters remain a long time without an new arrival, a new threat or an unforeseen event coming to disturb their idleness. The rules try to be simple and effective with sometimes a light loss of “realism” (even if more or less optional rules -   integrated into the basic book   - allow more precisely to manage the actions of the players). To know the universe of the Star Wars make it possible to visualize well the world of play and it appears clear that the creators thought that the players will have seen films before playing. This presupposed can divert the players not having seen them. The range of extensions is very vast and makes it possible to stress many points which are only evoked in films.

Second version

In 2000, Wizards off the Coast publishes a new version of Star Wars being based this time on the rules of the D20 System. This version was thus called Star Wars D20 . In 2002, a revised version was published always at Wizards off the Coast, it moves away from basic the D20 system (more adapted to a fantastic world medieval), and will be used as a basis for what will become the D20 Modern.

Unfortunately, this edition is in damning up, considered to be too not very profitable by Wizards off the Coast, and it was not translated into French. Their license Star Wars is used to them now primarily in a play as figurines.

Video games

Some plays of adventure took the name (considered to be abusive by some) of “roleplay”. For the Star Wars , let us quote:
  • Knight off the Old Republic , a play 3D which plunges the player 4  000 years before the cinematographic saga.
There exist also the plays by forum which have the advantage of being free, such Star Wars Evolution or of the plays by couriel such Alliance pbem.
