Stanislas-Marie Maillard

Stanislas-Marie Maillard . (1763 - 1794) emblematic of the French revolution is a character.

Born with Gournay-in-Bray (Seine-Maritime), the December 11th 1763, died with Paris, the April 15th 1794.

Stanislas-Marie Maillard took part in the Storming of the Bastille the July 14th 1789. After this exploit, giving itself the title of “captain of the volunteers of the Bastille”, it took an active share at every revolutionary day. Rejoined with the tendency “hebertist”, it was charged by the Comité with public hello with organizing the revolutionary police force. It is him which involved the Parisian ones with Versailles at the time of the Journées of the October 5th and 6th 1789 improvising spokesperson of the constituent Assembly.

It is named captain of the National guard in 1790. The July 17th 1791, it signs the petition of the Field-of-March which claims the creation of a Republic. Charged by the Common with Paris in September 1792 with putting to a term at the massacres prisoners, it, on the contrary, will give still more broadth, to them while covering them with a pretense of legality. The posterity will know it like the “ large judge of the Abbey”, or the “ chief of the massacreurs ”. Decree twice under the Terror like related to the Hébertistes, it dies in the misery of tuberculosis.
