Peugeot Type 5 is a model designed in 1894 by Armand Peugeot (1849 - 1915) (founder of the cars Peugeot in 1889) containing a hackney carriage motorized.

Automobile race

In 1894 this car controlled by engineer Louis Rigoulot, gains the race Paris-Rouen, first motorized automobile race of the world (without Chevaux) organized by the daily newspaper Paris IEN “the Small Newspaper”.

It arrives ex-æquo with a Panhard & Levassor at the finale of 128 km run between 21 competitors.
