Stamps of Wallis-and-Futuna 2006

This article counts the stamps of Wallis-and-Futuna emitted in 2006 by the Postal service and telecommunications of the archipelago.

General information

The stamps are marked “RF Wallis and Futuna Postes 2006” (for French Republic/name of the transmitting country/year). The facial value is made out in Franc peaceful, abbreviation: XPF.

They are of use on the outgoing mail of this community of overseas attached to France.

Monarchical flag of the kingdom of Hello

March 29th, is emitted a notebook of ten self-adhesive stamps of 85 XPF each one. They carry the monarchical flag of the kingdom of Hello, one of the three usual kingdoms of the archipelago.

The stamps of 2,3 × 1,7 cm are printed in offset.

The notebook is withdrawn from the sale on August 31st, 2007.

The Child of the islands

March 29th, is emitted a stamp of 75 XPF entitled the Child of the islands .

The stamp is the work of Evelyne Collet and is printed in offset in sheets of ten stamps of format 3,6 × 2,6 cm.

It is withdrawn from the sale on August 31st, 2007.

Monarchical flag of the kingdom of Sigave

April 18th, is emitted a notebook of ten self-adhesive stamps of 65 XPF each one. They carry the monarchical flag of the kingdom of Sigave, one of the three usual kingdoms of the archipelago.

The stamps of 2,3 × 1,7 cm are printed in offset.

The notebook is withdrawn from the sale on August 31st, 2007.

Haka May

April 18th, is emitted a stamp of 190 XPF on the Haka May .

The stamp is drawn by Aloi Pilioko, artist residing at Port-Villa, and S. Pinero, and is printed in sheet of ten in offset. Dimensions are of 2,6 × 3,6 cm.

It is withdrawn from the sale on August 31st, 2007.

80e birthday of the birth of Jean Soane Michon

May 31st, is emitted a artistic Timbre of 400 XPF for the 80e birthday of the artist Jean Soane Michon (1926-1998). The selected table represents the descent of the body of the Christ of the cross, at the time of the Passion.

Painting is reproduced on a stamp of 3 × 4 cm printed in offset in sheet of ten specimens.

It is withdrawn from the sale on August 31st, 2007.

June

Football world cup 2006

June 9th, first day of the competition, is emitted a stamp of 100 XPF announcing the Football world cup of 2006, in Germany. The illustration introduces a player in shirt and white shorts and low red dribblant in front of the trophy.

The stamp is drawn by Jean-Richard Lisiak. Of format 3 × 4 cm, it is printed in offset in sheet of ten units to the illustrated margins.

It is withdrawn from the sale on August 31st, 2007.

Monarchical flag of the kingdom of Uvéa

June 17th, is emitted a notebook of ten self-adhesive stamps of 55 XPF each one. They carry the monarchical flag of the kingdom of Uvéa, one of the three usual kingdoms of the archipelago.

The stamps are printed in offset.

The notebook is withdrawn from the sale on August 31st, 2007.

Subdued vai and Mata tai

June 17th, at the time of the Living room of the stamp and the writing to Paris, are emitted two stamps of 140 XPF and 200 XPF on, respectively, Mata vai and Mata tai .

The painting of the 140 XPF is the work of Soane Takaniua and that of the 200 XPF of R. Hoatau Kulimoetoke. The stamps of 3,6 × 2,6 cm are printed in offset in sheet of ten specimens.

July

Wallis-and-Futuna formerly

July 13rd, is emitted a diptych on the topic Wallis-and-Futuna formerly. The stamp of 330 XPF is illustrated of a scene of dance of young girls and the 380 XPF of a representation of the aglise of Moulted and its accesses at the 19th century.

The stamps are engraved respectively by Claude Jumelet and Jacky Larrivière for an impression in Taille-douce. The stamps of 4,8 × 2,7 cm are conditioned at a rate of five diptychs per sheet.

Colors océaniennes

August 5th, at the time of the Day of the stamp and collections, is emitted a notebook of ten stamps of 150 XPF whose illustration is titrated Couleurs océaniennes .

The stamp of 2,6 × 3,6 cm is drawn by Soane Takaniuz and is printed in offset.

20 years of the Twin Otter

August 7th, is emitted a Timbre commemorative of 30 XPF for the 20th birthday of the acquisition of a plane DHC-6 or Twin Otter to ensure the air links between the Wallis island and the Futuna island. The apparatus photographed on the ground is managed by the company Aircalin.

The stamp of 4,8 × 2,7 cm is designed by C. To dry for an impression in offset in sheet of ten specimens.

September

Rugby with 7 in Wallis

September 9th, is emitted a stamp of 10 XPF to promote the Rugby to seven. The slightly illustrated stamp announces the name of the principal sporting authorities concerned: the territorial Committee of Rugby of Wallis-and-Futuna and the French federation of Rugby.

The stamp of 5,2 × 2,2 cm is printed in offset in sheet of ten units.

Uhilamoafa burial

September 12th, is emitted a stamp of 290 XPF representing a Uhilamoafa burial.

The stamp of 4 × 2,6 cm is signed A. Kulifata. It is printed in offset in sheet of ten.

October

Blazon of monseigneur Joseph White Felix 26.03.1872 - 08.06.1962

October 5th, is emitted a stamp of 500 XPF reproducing the blazon of monseigneur Joseph Felix Blanc (March 26th, 1872 - August 8th, 1962), who was apostolic vicar in Oceania.

The stamp measures 3 cm out of 4 and is printed in sheet of ten. Engraving is carried out by Eve Luquet according to a model provided by the évêché of Lano whose seat is with Subdued-Utu, chief town of Wallis-and-Futuna.

November

The emissions of November coincide with the philatelic Salon of autumn to Paris.

Tagaloa

November 8th, is emitted a stamp of 150 XPF on the ancestral god Tagaloa, god of the Mer in the Mythologie of certain people of Oceania.

The stamp of 3 × 4 cm represents a work of Rebecca Hoatau. It is printed in offset in sheet of ten specimens whose margin announces that the organization of the philatelic Exposition Kiwipex 2006, with Christchurch, in New Zealand.

Typed Wallis-and-Futuna

November 8th, is emitted a band of four stamps of 85 XPF on the Tapa S, of the fabrics manufactured starting from bark of tree. Two of the stamps reproduce each one a reason of typed. The two others are illustrated scenes of groups illustrating of typed; the scenes are titrated “Mako has Ono” (meeting of sport) and “Tauasu has Leava” (with players of music).

The stamps of 4,8 × 2,7 cm are drawn by Niuhina Simutoga (scenes) and Pasilia Tui (reasons). They are engraved by Yves Beaujard (reason), Elsa Catelin (reason) and Jacky Larrivière (scenes). Printed in Copper-plate engraving, they are conditioned in sheet of four bands including/understanding a specimen of these four stamps.

Crib of Christmas

November 8th, is emitted a stamp of Christmas of 225 XPF included in an illustrated block. The scene is that of a Crèche of Christmas in a forest.

The block including/understanding a stamp of 5,2 × 3,1 cm is drawn by Gildas Pressence and is printed in offset.
