There still, the Protestant garrison gives up the city on November 16th, after a defeat with Saint-Denis. In 1569, the area is again devastated by the fired mercenaries who turn over in Germany after the Bataille of Moncontour.

In 1587, the city constitutes a catholic league, which adopts the Holy-League on August 19th, 1588. The city receives a ligueuse garrison, is taken very quickly by both Henri (Henri III and Henri de Navarre), on June 23rd, 1589. The city is plundered during three days, but the chiefs of the army prohibit violences with the inhabitants (in spite of this prohibition, some women were Viol ées).

October 20th of the same year, the Members of a league put the seat in front of Étampes, and penetrate the 23 there. Several catholic magistrates are massacred. As of on November 5th, Henri IV takes again the city without combat, the governor Ligueur, the count de Clermont-Lodève being abandoned of the middle-class men of the city.

Economy

Stamps knows the destiny of a suburban town, always more close to Paris thanks to the grid system. Principal local industry is the mechanical engineering. There are many efforts of facts, especially financially, so that this city has an aspect less " banlieusard" and more cultural.
