Stalemate Hibulaire

Pat Hibulaire ( Peg-Leg Pete , Black Pete or quite simply Pete in VO) is a Personnage of fiction created in 1925 by the studios Disney.

Criminal, specialist in companies dishonest persons in any kind, this large anthropomorphic Chat black quickly asserted himself like one of malicious most frightening of the universe of Mickey Mouse. But the character was born before Mickey.

History

It made its first appearance in Alice Solves the Puzzle , a short-measuring of the series Alice Comedies , left the February 15th 1925 and becomes one of malicious recurring of the series.

It is then re-used in the first court-measurings of Mickey Mouse. Their official meeting dates from the November 18th 1928, during the first projection of the famous cartoon wired for sound Steamboat Willie . Actually, Pat is already present in The Gallopin' Gaucho left in dumb version the August 7th 1928. Become the enemy n° 1 of Mickey, Pat Hibulaire very tried to eliminate it. Fortunately, Mickey was not born from the last rain and, if it is left there thanks to its easy way, it is sometimes of accuracy.

The physique of the character evolved/moved much: initially represented like a cat (tail included/understood) with a wooden leg going up to the knee, its aspect was modified by Floyd Gottfredson which attenuated its cat-like characteristics (disappearance of the tail), returned it bedonnant and allotted a " to him; leg in bois" more discrete, which replaced simply one of its feet. Successively called in French Curly the , Mal' O Patt or Jean Bambois before being definitively adopted under the name of Stalemate Hibulaire , it ends up finding its two legs - at least seemingly: in the history the Mystery of the solitary river ( The Mystery At Hidden To rivet , 1941), Pat Hibulaire explains to have replaced its wooden leg by a prosthesis in the shape of shoe. In fact, in a history Italy of Romano Scarpa, Pat Hibulaire withdraws its shoe to let appear its wood prosthesis.

In the first stories of Floyd Gottfredson, Pat was regularly associated with Maître Chicaneau, which seemed the brain of the duet of criminals. Stealing the high-speed motorboat with its accomplice, it acts thereafter of independent, even if it does not hesitate to degrade with other villains like the black Phantom, Oscar Raptor or Tom Pouce and Blast-furnace slag.

Gertrude, a large she-cat with the generally vulgar behaviors and pink candy created by Romano Scarpa, is his/her boyfriend and accomplice in a great number of stories of Italian productions. It is often assisted in its larcenies by an idiotic accomplice called Lafouine.

Pat Hibulaire is not always depicts like entirely malicious. In the stories of Floyd Gottfredson, it was presented like an odious, delinquent character professional and trying on several occasions to make an attempt on the life of Mickey; so in Mickey Mouse there is Secret Mission published on July 19th 1943, it is a spy with the service of the Nazi Germany, in several other stories, on the contrary, it is a " malicious sympathique" not very brutal, which becomes even sometimes the hero.

The character is sometimes used in some Cartoon S a such Archétype to depict characters different from/to each other, as Dingo will personify in the years 1950 " Mr All-the-Monde".

The May 21st 1986, French Claude Marin draws the character of Stalemate under the appearance of a baby in the series Bébés Disney whose publication began in the number 1769 from the Journal from Mickey .

In the Band with Picsou (1987-1989), Pat Hibulaire appears in several malicious successive roles the rather dissimilar ones, without being ever named: one could thus suppose that it acted characters different having an air from family.

In the Band with Nutcase (1992-1993), he becomes a father bourru, but not having bad bottom, although often entering in conflict with Dingo.

The original voice of Stalemate Hibulaire is that of Billy Bletcher. In French, his voice has been ensured for several years by Alain Dorval although Michel Vocoret also prété its voice Pat (in particular in the Prince and Poor the and the symphonic Hour).
