Of the Greek stalagmos , flow.
A stalagmite is a stony concretion, which is formed on the ground of the caves and souterrrains by the slow and continuous fall of Eau X Calcaire S and by " the effect splash " those. When the stalagmite, by continuing its slow growth, joined the Stalactite which is formed with the ceiling of the Grotte, two concretions are welded gradually and thus formed a true stalagmitic pillar, or column.
