Stalag XII-F

The Stalag XII-F belonged to the district of Wiesbaden, it is located at Forbach (and a time close to Sarrebourg) of the November 15th 1940 at September-December 1944. Then moved with Freinsheim in Germany, it functions from September-December 1944 to March 1945.

It was held by the Landesschutzbataillon 433 trained, like all these units, soldiers whom one did not send in the combat units because of their least warlike quality. It is by a testimony in 1968 of the Landesschutzbataillon 342 that one has some data on Stalag XII-F.

There would have been 136 Arbeitskommandos ( work group) which worked out of the camp

At September 1st 1943, were counted in this camp 17.524 French, 312 Belgians, 2.623 Poles, 4.923 Slavic (Serb etc.) and 23.623 Soviets, is a total of 49.015 prisoners. On this total of prisoners, 41.840 workers and 7.175 who were not suited and were placed in Lazaret S.

With the 1944, in the whole of the XII-F (Forbach) one counts a total of 29.346 Soviet prisoners of war and 2.804 prisoners of war Polish. Concerning other nationalities, the full number is unknown.
