The club evolved/moved in CFA and the 3rd national division of 1955-56 to 1957-58 then of 1975-76 to 1976-77. The Stage Resident of Saint-Nazaire evolves/moves for the season 2007-2008 in DHR, 3rd level of the Atlantic Ligue.

History

1908-1945

The large port of the Atlantique coast knew a long story with football, more often with low tide than with high tide. The club was born general sports (Rugby and football) in 1908 under the name of Sporting Club Resident of Saint-Nazaire. Since 1920 and the foundation of the Union Mean Penhoët, new general sports club near to the Building sites of Penhoët, the city will know duels baited in Division of Honor of the League of the West, Penhoët gaining even the Cut of the West in 1943 and reaching 8th of finale of the Coupe de France (Occupied Zone), the whole outside.

Because, at the time, during the second world war, about fifty fatal bombardments destroy Saint-Nazaire with 80%, of which that of the night from February 28th to March 1st, 1943. The civil population will evacuate the city, made intolerable, in the first fortnight of March, towards the remainder of Brittany and the west of France. The city is nothing any more but one immense field of ruins, empty inhabitants, in the medium of which draws up itself, intact, the massive silhouette of the underwater base. As in Brest and Lorient, it cannot then be question of football in Saint-Nazaire any more, even for the few footballers of Kriegsmarine German stationed in southern Brittany.

1945-1965

In the Fifties, Sporting takes the top gradually, becomes champion of the West in 1955 and reaches CFA, even if it ends up relapsing in DH, whereas the winger Jean Louradour then the guard Yves Audigane leave at the Stage Of Rennes. They is at that time that with football, in Saint-Nazaire, some will wake up Jean-Marc Guillou, international future. Guillou is inspired then by the model of footballistic technicality which is Albert Guessoum, former pro of the FC Nantes and at the time trainer of Sporting Club Resident of Saint-Nazaire. In October 1965, about to celebrate its 20 years, it joined the rows of the SCO of Angers and spends professional three years later. It is this same year as the section football of Sporting émancipe under the name of Athletic Club Resident of Saint-Nazaire, while preserving the colors red and black of Sporting. Football resident of Saint-Nazaire approaches its zenith then, of these Seventies which will be again marked by intense derbies between the ACN and Penhoët.

1965-1983

The two clubs, cut by decree of State of the remainder of Breton football in 1967 (like all the other clubs of Loire-Atlantique), are now in DH of the Atlantic League. In 1974, the ACN must let Ancenis go up in the 3rd division for three small points… Penhoët finishing third at four points of the ACN. The following year, the ACN raid the setting while becoming Champion of DH Atlantique under the crook of Maurice Blondel. Two seasons quite difficult in the 3rd national division will follow. The first plank the disaster and the ACN avoids the return in DH only while being fished out for its best average of spectators of the classified clubs 14th of the six groups of the 3rd division. The second season, always with the ex-pro Patrice Mayet as trainer, will be without district for a too irregular ACN in spite of its ex-pros Of Michele, Eon, Fievet and Watteau. Curiously, Saint-Nazaire will be the only team of the Group to twice overcome Guingamp (of which a Net 2-0, on January 23rd, 1977 with Guingamp), however guingampais them going up in the 2nd division at the conclusion of the season. Edmond Lemaître will replace Patrice Mayet at the post of trainer (St-Brieuc v St-Nazaire, March 23rd, 1977) until the end of the season, but the ACN will never leave the red zone and will have to turn over in DH.

Nevertheless, the will to go up is large. In Coupe de France, the ACN passes very close to the 32e of finale, beaten in front of 4.000 spectators on its grounds, 1-0 by Guingamp, after prolongations. Saumur is champion and goes up in the 3rd division but Saint-Nazaire seizes a providential gift, reaching the any news the 4th national division at the end of the season 1977-78. The first year (1978-79) on this level will be beautiful, the finishing ACN 3rd, without to address as tu an accession confiscated by the US Mountain one and the ACE Brest-native (beaten all the same 3-2 at the stage Léo Lagrange). In 1980-81, Saint-Nazaire will be one of the rare teams to overcome Rennes (1-0), future champion of France of the 4th division, but his record of matches null and the sterility of its attack, although compensated by an iron defense (2nd of France on this level this season there!), will remove any hope of rise to him. The fifth season (1982-83) of the ACN on this level will be fatal for him. Which had enabled him to be maintained before was going there it to miss cruelly the small point. Cold comfort: The Reserve of the Brest-native Stage, although promoted at the end of the season, bit dust (1-0) with Léo Lagrange.

1983-2007

The ACN took again its pilgrim's staff in DH then, falling even quickly in DSR to remain there lengthily, tasting even DRH… The amateurs of football resident of Saint-Nazaire came from there even then to wonder whether the SNOS, another general sports club of the city, were not going to catch up with even to double the old ACN, which made Penhoët in a transitory way at the end of the Eighty. Others considered even even several improbable fusions. The ACN, blocked in DSR, changed name into 1991 failing to go up in DH, to become Saint-Nazaire Presqu'île FC, followed in 1998 by the creation of a new club of supporters. In March 2002, the club changes with third once of name to be called Saint-Nazaire Football Club. Formerly cash among the teams appearing in 3rd even of the 4th level of French football, Saint-Nazaire does not occupy any more but 7th… Arrive Stephan Mahé in 2003, as trainer-player, and the Saint-Nazaire whole wants to believe that with this native, originating in Trignac, victorious from the Cut of the Cuts 1996 with Paris SG, Saint-Nazaire will find the ambition. Five year old contract out of pocket, Mahé aims to rebuild the house resident of Saint-Nazaire. At the end of 2005-06, it is finally the increase in DH. The impossible one seems again possible. Mow. Saint-Nazaire does not have the means of its ambitions. Economically and sportivement, it is the relapse at the end of 2006-07. Stephan Mahé is laid off, the club falls down in DSR.

Today

June 15th, 2007, the Court of Bankruptcy of Saint-Nazaire pushed back its decision to liquidate Saint-Nazaire FC, to give time to check the regularity of the management of the former executive team. It will thus be necessary to await on August 17th and the decision which will be returned by the Council of Judgment of the Court of Rennes so that the liquidation of the club is probably marked. The action of the current leaders, who hoped purely and simply an immediate liquidation to be able to set out again, is some blocked.

A new name already was found and recorded with the FFF: It is about the Stage Resident of Saint-Nazaire (even if the old number of affiliation, the 500195, had to be abandoned), with a new trainer, Christophe Guyader, new players, certainly team the 18 year old of the club, the new president being always Dominique Fillaud. This new time does not satisfy the Stage Resident of Saint-Nazaire which cannot thus prepare the next season and fears the exodus of many players who will not want to remain indefinitely in waiting, whereas the resignations, for 2007-08, were completed on June 30th, 2007. The clubs close of the Vault-of-Marsh and La Baule are with the mounting of good deals and already made their market in Saint-Nazaire, whereas Saint-Brévin and others could do as much of it.

Which project the Stage Resident of Saint-Nazaire T he will propose with his 450 bachelors, all categories confused? For Claude Freret, former secretary of the club, alive memory of football resident of Saint-Nazaire, passion remains intact: He has just signed his 43e consecutive license. It is this same passion which must carry the rebirth of football to Saint-Nazaire but one will need an iron will to link the sporting forces, political and economic so that the sixth agglomeration of Brittany (behind Nantes, Rennes, Brest, Lorient and Saint-Brieuc) has finally the team which she deserves since so a long time. The Stage Resident of Saint-Nazaire will have to force its destiny while setting out again of DHR (A) Group, championship of which the first day will be played on September 16th, 2007. It will find there another deposed club, RC Ancenis.
