Its history… 1904 First installations in Pontaise, stronghold of the Lausanne-Sports. 1919 a cyclone of north wind destroys the platform of the stage. It will be rebuilt before being again destroyed by… a fire. 1923 First international match with the Olympic stadium: Switzerland-Hungary 1-6 1928 Lausanne gains its first Cut of Switzerland, in its stage, vis-a-vis Nordstern over the score of 10-0. 1951 Beginning of work of the future Olympic stadium 1954 Official unveiling. The capacity of this gigantic stage is then of 50 ' 000 places including 30 ' 000 glazes.

In the middle of the Northern Platform, Jules Rimet declares the 5th Football world cup officially open. The match of opening opposes France to Yugoslavia which will carry it finally 1 to 0.

MEMORABLE MATCH: this June 26th, 1954, Switzerland loses vis-a-vis in large Austria 7 to 5 at the time of the quarterfinals of the Football world cup after having however led 3 to 0; Austrians managing to register 5 goals in 10 minutes! This score represents the greatest number of goals registered at the time of a match of World cup.

The final takes place at the stage of Wankdorf of Bern between Germany and Hungary. In front of 60 ' 000 spectators, Germany carries it 3 to 2

1961 Lausanne faces Servette, leader, in front of 32 ' 000 spectators (new record of Switzerland for a match of championship). Lausanne carries it 4-0. The match starts with delay because the service of order does not manage to contain this impressive crowd. 1985 New track of athletics and reduction in the capacity with 25 ' 000 spectators.

1993 Reduction in the capacity in 15 ' 850 places very sat with new cloakrooms and modern installations

1994 the world records of the 100 meters is beaten by Leroy Burrell in 9 ' 85 at the time of the annual meeting of Athlétissima of Lausanne

2003 a renovation project and of enlarging of the stage is refused

2007 the stage, more to the standards to play in Super League, should be destroyed from here 2011 to leave the place to new a " éco-quartier". A new football stadium of 15 ' 000 places called Stade of Léman will see the day with Bourdonnette, in the south-western districts of the city. This new complex will also include/understand a shopping mall and an Olympic swimming pool.
