The Stade of Bordeaux is a general sports club French including/understanding sections of Athlétisme, of BMX, Bridge, Football, Pétanque, Rugby to XV, and of Tennis.

The Club

Founded on July 18th 1889 under the name of “Stage of Bordeaux”, it bears a long time the name of Stage of Bordeaux u.a. (SBUC), heritage of one (short) union with the university clubs of Bordeaux (1901 to 1903). It is then especially a club of Rugby.

It was the first not-Parisian club to gain the championship of France of Rugby, which it was going to dominate during ten years.

Association with CA Bordeaux-Bègles the Gironde

Deuis the beginning of the year 2000, a project of union with the other large club of Rugby of the agglomeration of Bordeaux, the Club Athlétic Bordeaux-Bègles the Gironde, is considered. Afterwards many excuses, conflicts and hesitations, he is born on March 10th, 2006. After many negociations, the new entity is baptized " Union Stage of Bordeaux-Club Athlétic Bordeaux-Bègles the Gironde (see this article for details on the new entity). There are not fusion but union by the creation of a new association with 50/50 between the two clubs to receive the team first, the training center… (precision of Ph.Moulia, President Général of the Stage of Bordeaux, member of the steering committee of the union). Only two teams first amalgamate and evolve/move in Pro D2 (the second division) as of the season 2006-07. The Stage of Bordeaux, like the CABBG, preserves its teams of young people thus.

However, a senior team is committed in regional championship for the season 2007-2008.
