Stage Pierre de Coubertin (Cannes)
The Stade Pierre de Coubertin is currently the cave of the club of Football of the Sports association of Cannes Football. Its capacity is currently of 12.800 places.
This stage, at the origin (end of the year 60), was dedicated to the Athlétisme and the Rugby whereas the Football evolved/moved at the Stage of Hespérides. He saw the birth in October 1969 of the club of Athlétisme the Athlétic Club of Cannes which installed its seat there very quickly. The track of athletics of six corridors in rubkor was remade with beginning of the year 70 and was replaced by a coating in tartan, then in the middle of the Seventies the Rugby left definitively the Stage Pierre de Coubertin to leave the place to the Sports association of Cannes Football. The cohabitation between the Athletics and the Football which at the beginning was good quickly became difficult progressively of the good performances obtained by the two clubs. After some negotiations with the municipality and the creation of a track of athletics of eight corridors at the Stage Maurice Knight, the Athlétic Club of Cannes left definitively the Stage Pierre de Coubertin in 1986. Thereafter the track of athetism was covered by steps. The steps behind the goals were renovated between 2000 and 2003 while the side platforms were equipped with new seats.
