A stage in Océanographie is a bathymetric zone .
One distinguishes the stage infralittoral located below the low tides from spring tide, the stage médiolittoral which correspond to the zone of swinging of the tides, or Estran, and the stage supralittoral located above the full seas of spring tide which is reached only by the Ressac and the Embrun S.
