St Anger

St Anger is an album of heavy metal of the American group Metallica.

Published in 2003, it marks the entry in the group of the bass player Robert Trujillo (ex- Suicidal Tendencies and ex- Infectious Grooves) to play the round which followed the exit of the album. Following the departure of Jason Newsted, the group did not have indeed any more a bass player, and it was the producer Bob Rock who played of low during the recording of the album.

The largest change is at the level of the sound of clear case piccolo used by Lars Ulrich.

St Anger is also individual extracted the album.

A return to the sources

This album of Metallica mark the return of the group to a style much more aggressive than on their two preceding albums Load and ReLoad, taking a new turning indeed Naked Metal. For this reason, St Anger dissociates its predecessors by an complete absence of solos, which is a first for the group. This return wanted to an aggressive style is also found in the small pocket of the album drawn by Pushead, which worked on certain illustrations of preceding albums. The album wants to be rate/rhythm and powerful, the words are not negative for as much. However the album did not know as much success than their precedents (of Kill' EM All until Black Album) and was criticized by the many fans of the beginning because of the absence of solos and the production in general: the under-granted guitars and the sound of the clear case ( snare ) of Lars Ulrich give with dimensions a " repetition in a garage".

Reception

The album received a reception mitigated in term of sales since it is to date the album of Metallica being less sold. This is perhaps to charge to its vintage of the album, the length of certain pieces and perhaps to the lack of depth of their stylistic reversal, explaining the distress of certain fans who do not recognize any more their preferred group. The album suffers from a great linearity in the pieces which compose it, the songs of this album are followed and resemble each other. The group hitherto a41dernier $c-b1, e,10 $c-b26 ce $c-b16 $c-b43, bn,84 appreciated for the various tensions, " dramatisations" or quite simply musical emotions that he managed to create and suciter in its various albums (pieces slow, fast, rhythmic rupture between two songs inside songs etc…) does not manage to restore all the richness of its style and its play. Rare thing for Metallica, the album appears repetitive as well inside the songs as between two pieces, becoming puffing and giving a real impression of lack of conviction. All these defects unfortunately do of it one of the albums less appreciated and more décrié of the group.

Video productions

The realization of the disc is presented thoroughly on the DVD of the " group; Summon Kind Of Monster". The work of the group was painful and long, of the tensions due to the problems of the two cofounders having occurred during the recording which was spread out over many months. Several video clip were produced for the individual ones of which St Anger , Frantic and The Unnamed Feeling

Future prospects

This album marks the end of collaboration between Metallica and Bob Rock since it is Rick Rubin which will produce next wafer of the furnace horsemen.
