Squalene

The squalene is a Isoprénoïde with thirty atoms of Carbone and 50 atoms of hydrogen. Its six units of Isoprène are all in conformation trans .

Formulate: (E) 2,6,10,15,19,23-Hexamethyl-2,6,10,14,18,22-tetracosahexene.

It is also called spinacene and suprene.

It is a Lipide present in great quantity in the oil of the liver of the Requin S from where its name, and in less quantity (0.1 to 0.7%) in the Olive oil and other cereal oils. The squalene is also found in the human Sébum. It is an essential intermediary in the biosynthesis of the Cholestérol.

Properties

Squalene with the property to absorb oxygen. However, the quantity of Oxygène absorbed is physiologically meaning only for the Requin.
