Squadron of hunting 1/11 Roussillon
The Escadron of Hunting 1/11 Roussillon is an old unit of combat of the French Air force. Its planes carried a code between 11-EA and 11-EZ .
History
EC. 1/11 Roussillon was created on August 1st, 1952, by taking again the traditions of the Group of Hunting III/6 Roussillon which had been dissolved the day before, on its return of Indo-China. It is successively equipped with F-84G Thunderjet and of F-84F Thunderstreak, before passing on North American F-100D/F Super Sabers at the end of the years 1950. In the middle of the years 1960, its main mission is pre-strategic nuclear striking but becomes again the conventional attack in 1967.In 1976, EC. 1/11 Roussillon is equipped with SEPECAT Jaguar. Its main mission is the attack on the ground at low altitude and, in 1987, the planes can carry an air-to-ground missile AS-30L guided by laser. The deployment in Africa continue and the Jaguar illustrate in particular in February 1986 at the time of a raid on the Libyan track of Ouadi-Doum to the Chad. The squadron is also engaged at the time of the Guerre of the Gulf (1990-1991) then in Bosnia.
EC. 1/11 Roussillon is dissolved in July 1994.
