Squad Leader

Squad Leader is a tactical War game of scale being held during the Second world war on the European theater. Squad Leader has in his time considered as a success and gave rise to Advanced Squad Leader, considered by much as the tactical war game more succeeded, at the price of an important complexity.

Squad Leader which put in scene mainly the Front of the East (Second world war) and the Front of the West (Second world war) after the unloadings of Normandy and Provence at the time of the second world war was then declined in several extensions:

Cross-country race off Iron : extension of the system, in particular extension of the system of the vehicles with for theater the face of the East (partisans, Rumanian, inexperienced troops, S)
Crescendo off Doom : introduction of the Face of the West (Second world war) with in particular the British and French troops of 1940
GI: Anvil off Victory : addition of the American troops

Squad Leader had as favors to provide a system of rules coherent although complex, but to which missed a certain number of parameters, such as for example a more important differentiation of the vehicles. Progressively of the extensions, the system of rules was wide, with for consequence a whole of sometimes contradictory rules. Avalon Hill thus decided to compile the rules and to clarify them within a new version, which will be called Advanced Squad Leader. But to final, this project will leave the initial framework completely to become a complete rewriting with important additions of rules.
