Spurius Maelius

Spurius Maelius was a plebeian rich person of the ancient Rome which lived in Ve front century J. - C.

At the time of a great famine in Rome, it bought a great quantity of corn and distributed it to bottom taken to the people. Because of its great popularity thus acquired, it was shown to want to become king. Refusing to present itself to the convocation of the dictator Cincinnatus, it was killed by Gaius Servilius Ahala. Its house was shaven and its corn distributed free to the people. It is not known if Maelius at the head had really such a project.
