Spurius Carvilius Ruga
Spurius Carvilius Ruga (or Rufa ) is a semi-legendary character of ancient Rome which, according to Plutarque, would have invented the letter G, opens the first deprived elementary school, and would have been the first with Divorce R. Affranchi, he would have lived around -600 or of -230.
The letter G quickly would have been adopted by the Roman République, because it had the advantage of making it possible to distinguish with the writing the two sounds and, hitherto consequently represented letter: C.
Plutarque is our only information source on the invention of G and that of the school.
The history of the divorce is attested by Denys d' Halicarnasse and Aulu-Cold.

It will be noted that the date of -230 that they advance concerning this divorce is not credible, the Loi of the Twelve Tables written in -450 already comprising an article relating to the divorce. There does not exist consensus on the inventions which can be legitimately allotted to Ruga, but none of three is allotted to anyone other by the known old texts.
