The spruces (in France), or virginals (with the Canada), or prusses (in Acadie), are trees of the kind Picea originating in the moderate areas of the northern hemisphere. They belong to the family of the Pinacées. They reach 40 easily Mètre S top and certain specimens exceed sometimes the 50 meters ( Picea sitchensis with 96 meters). It is the Résineux more planted in Europe. It is used much in Lutherie, in the building and to manufacture paper.
A forest of spruces is called Pessière.
