Sports association (school)

In France, all the schools of the second degree (colleges, colleges and vocational schools) are equipped with a sports association (ACE).

Objectives

Access to the citizenship

The sports association is a place where education with the citizenship is built, not only by the sporting practical , its values and its methods, but also by the training of community life.

Opening towards outside

The ACE aims by its organisational approach to the opening of the school of today. It is a footbridge to lead the young people to activities apart from the school, access code - among others - to the social life. That can result in initiatives of local partnerships for example.

Operation

Directing office

The chief of establishment is the president. The teachers, the parents and the pupils are represented within the directing office, which appoints a secretary and a treasurer during the Annual general meeting.

Like any association, the ACE must deposit its statutes in prefecture and it is desirable that its members write and adopt rules of procedure.

Framing

The teaching of EPS take part in the animation and the framing of association in their service of obligatory teaching. A weekly fixed price of 3:00 especially included in their timetable remunerates their implication.

Association can also call upon other professors, or adults external with the college. It can also sign conventions with other sporting establishments, or centers, in order to diversify the proposed offer with the pupils.

Sports activities

The activities suggested by the ACE depend on three factors:

the choice of the members
installations available and geographical opportunities
specific competences of the framing

The sports associations are federate within the National union of the School Sport which organizes and coordinates meetings and championships (cf address book).

Financial aspects

The EPLE can decide to subsidize association. In this case, association must obligatorily submit a moral and financial report at the conclusion of the exercise to the chief of establishment. The attribution of a subsidy is subjected to a vote in board of directors. The funds of life high-school girl and animation can also be used after debate of CVL.

A contribution is requested from the pupils (it marks their adhesion…) ; this participation can be dealt with on a case-by-case basis by the funds of a company high-school pupil for the pupils who ask it.
