Champion of France in 1951, it is resulting from the fusion of two clubs of the city in 1940, and its teams play in red and green
History
US Carmaux results from the fusion of two clubs:- the Olympic of Carmaux , founded in 1921, was the club of the Company of the Mines of Carmaux (which exploited the coal of the basin). He exploited the Stage of the Mines to football and Rugby in colors red and black. The team of Rugby was a certain success with two national finals (Promotion/the Third Division in 1928, Honneur/the Second Division in 1929, twice against Roanne).
-
the Football Club Carmausin , founded in 1922, was him the municipal club, created by the town hall. General sports (it had also a section of athletics), it was not remains about it on the level of the results, with two championships of France (4th series 1923, 2nd series 1926) intersected with a final of 3rd series in 1924. The club played in green and black.
The competition between the two clubs was considerable and impossible to circumvent in if small town, the more so as in 1931, the two clubs were found in the First Division. However, fusion intervened only in December 1940, whereas the Vichy government had imposed the regrouping of the sporting companies. The leaders equipped the regrouping forced with a declaration of good intentions “to recognize that it is important to put an end to the old competition of their two sporting groupings”. Thus is born the Sporting union Carmausine . An additive with the clauses of the marriage contract even specified that in the event of dissension, each club could have set out again on its side, the OC with football and the tennis shoe, the FCC with Rugby and cycling! That will not be the case, and the general sports USC counted nine sections quickly
It is of this double heritage that the USC derives also the colors from its escutcheon, the green of the FCC, the red of the OC, related to a white shirt.
Champion of France
The club will know its more beautiful hour of glory in 1951. By beating the Stadoceste tarbais 14-12 finally, the club succeeds another club tarnais - the Olympic Castres - with the prize list of the championship of France and thus gains the famous Bouclier of Brennus.Strongly depend on the good fortune of the coal mines of Carmaux, the club is struck of full whip by the economic crisis. It goes down in the Second Division, where he will become champion of France in 1972, then in the Third Division (Champion in 1995). The club evolves/moves now on the level Fédérale 3 (the 5th division).
The club plays at Stage Jean Vareilles (old Stage of the Tower) since the middle of the Seventies, before the club knew its hours of glory at the Stage of Amouries (or of Cyanamide).
