Sporting and gymnic federation of work

The sporting and gymnic Fédération of work (FSGT) is a general sports federation. It is affiliated with the international sporting Confédération of work and with the Olympic and sporting National committee French.

Objectives

Sports association of popular education, the FSGT the least expensive defines the popular sport as a sport of quality, possible, democratic and laic, convivial.

a sport of quality: by a work criticizes on the contents, the unbounded adaptation of the official rules, pedagogy, the formation…

a sport the least dear possible : by voluntary engagement in animation, the recognition of the gained experience…

a democratic and laic sport : by a nonhierarchical operation citizen, the FSGT is self-managed under the responsibility for each one and all…

a convivial sport : who cultivates the human relation by the pleasure of the division of an activity…

  • It is the sport with the service of the achievement of the good being of the man.

  • It is the refusal to limit itself to a technical approach of the sport.
  • It is engagement in solidarity in acts against the social inequalities.
  • It is the refusal of the domination of strongest on weakest, of any commercial sport, or élitiste
  • It is the rejection of the hierarchical forms of operation and exercise of the capacities.
  • It is the participation in the construction of a more human world, plus citizen, more interdependent from the point of view of universality.

The practice " omnisports" allows each member to open with other activities, which corresponds to a current social request.

The local, national and international values of solidarity are anchored in the step of the FSGT and are concretized by actions on all the levels.

History

The FSGT was created in the dynamics of the Popular front and trade-union reunification CGT-CGTU by the union of the sporting Federation of work (FST, near of PCF) and of the Union of the companies sporting and gymnic of work (USSGT, near to the SFIO)

As it was the case for the Rugby with XIII, the Jeu of palm, the Table tennis and the Badminton. The FSGT was “dissolved in 1940 by the Vichy government, of many leaders were assassinated by the Nazis and a big number took part in Resistance”. In April 1942, the mode of Vichy destroyed also 2 other federations amateurs multi-sports and school: UFOLEP and USEP.

Activities

A federation of 4300 local associations which organize sport and leisures. These associations are gathered in departmental committees (70), regional (20) and in committee federal of activities (20). 4 large fields of activities are locatable:

The competitive sport

It relates to a score of activities organized of the local level to the international level. The FSGT falls under the sporting culture by giving all its attention to the competitive practices. It takes care of prioriser the quality of the trainings and to insert the competition in a geographical, convivial human context to contribute to the training of a sportsman citizen.

The sport of the child

The FSGT puts forward the teaching and educational concepts: the educational competition makes it possible the child to enter the play, to remain there and to evolve/move and the general sports one develops transferable competences with all the sports activities. Rather than the immediate performance at all costs, the FSGT aims at the slow construction of a whole physically rich life.

Activities of full nature

These activities always occupied an important place within the FSGT. Each time had its engagements to make it possible modest populations to be able to reach these often expensive but always merry practices. Today, the FSGT acts for the exemption from payment of the helps and the setting out the law of tolls which tax the hikers with rackets.

Activities for health

Beyond the simple physical condition, the FSGT conceives health like " a complete state of good physical, mental being and social". It works for an autonomous management of health in a happy report/ratio with the body.

International activities

The FSGT always sought to insert its activity in an international environment which enables him to enrich its own social and cultural project. She also considers her responsibility to contribute to develop with the world plan a sport for all which can play a particular part in the fight against the social inequalities and poverty.

The FSGT develops co-operations having for main aim to develop a sport with the service of peace and non-violence: Palestine, Japan, Iraq, South Africa, Algeria, etc

The FSGT makes it possible sportsmen amateurs to take part in international competitions within the framework of the CSIT (international sporting Confédération of work).
