The Sporting Club of Bastia is a club of Football French, founded in 1905. The Corsica club is chaired by Charles Orlanducci since on Saturday, June 10, 2006 the evening and is pulled by Bernard Casoni. History

beginnings of the SCB. Sporting Club of Bastia is founded in 1905 by Switzerland called Ruesch. Newcomer of Barcelona, it taught the German with the college of Bastia. The first president of the S.C.B is Emile Brandizi. The Corsican club evolves/moves at its beginnings on the Place of Weapon of Bastia, where it is necessary to put up with a gas burner trônant in the middle of the ground! The club begins its professional adventure in 1965, in Division 2. After three good seasons, he is crowned Champion of France of the Second division in 1968, thus joining the elite. The first season will be difficult, but the club will manage all the same to be maintained. Then begin a decade considered by much most beautiful of the history of the club. In 1972, the club reaches thus for the first time the finale of the Coupe de France vis-a-vis Olympic of Marseilles (lost 2-1 on the wire), obtaining its first qualification out of Cut of Europe, which will show a fast elimination vis-a-vis the excellent team of Atlético Madrid.

The Cut of Europe… it is it which will make it possible the club to live more the great moment of its history.

In 1977, after a splendid season or the SECB third of D1 finishes, the club is qualified for UEFA Cup. It will eliminate there successively Lisbon, Newcastle, Torino (with a victory in Turin 3-2 which will remain in the memories, the " Toro" being remained unconquered since two seasons on its ground), Iena, Zurich, before a final missed vis-a-vis the PSV Eindhoven.

This final will be that of all the regrets. Initially with a match outward journey played Furiani on an impracticable ground, pouring rain being cut down on Corsica in this April 26th, 1978. Unfortunately, the Yougoslave referee will not be able to defer the meeting, because of the proximity of the World cup in Argentina which was to be held a few weeks later. In spite of the Bastian domination, the meeting will finish on a null and virgin score, 0-0.

The finale return, on May 9th, did not last which 24 minutes. It is the time which it was necessary for the Netherlanders of Eindhoven to mark the first goal, who will be followed by two others at the end of the match (3-0). The Bastians will allot this defeat of unrecognizable Sporting to the tiredness accumulated in championship (3 matches in 6 days in the days which preceded the finale return).

What was to be more the great moment of the Corsica sport (see the film Forza Bastia of Jacques Tati) was thus a fiasco. What imports, the SECB, club of a town of only 40.000 hearts, had made more than to defy the large capitals of European football: it had made it possible very whole Corsica to meet, at one time or the nationalist movement was born, three years after the episode of Aleria, in 1975… The History says that at the time to give the cut of France to Paul Marchioni in 1981, the president of the republic of the time François Mitterrand would have said by looking at crowd " There exists Corsica people there is in front of us! Stage Armand Cesari (Furiani)

The stage of Sporting is the Stage Armand Cesari located in Furiani. This enclosure was inaugurated the October 16th 1932. The Stage Armand Cesari (10 080 sitted places) remains in the memories for the catastrophe which marked the semi-final of the Coupe de France 1992 vis-a-vis Olympic Marseilles. The assessment of the collapse of a provisional platform is heavy: 18 died and more than 2500 wounded. Since, various projects were born in order to build a new stage. Work should finally begin during 2006, but of the internal businesses (company SNC Vendasi having thus " magouillé" , to gain the invitation to tender) announced recently by the Council of Competition, delayed the construction of that Ci. It will thus be necessary to wait before seeing decayed Southern Tribune being renovated.

At the time of the centenary of the club, on December 18th, 2005, the 4 platforms are baptized:

Platform " Claude Papi" (North) the largest platform of the stage, two stages, takes into account 5800 very sitted places.
Platform " Pierre Cahuzac" (West) Platform, a few years ago, considered to be a very hot platform, containing 2990 very sitted places. It is occupied by Guerrieri Turchini, small group of supporters faithful.
Platform " Victor Lorenzi" (South) the smallest platform, only which forever renovated, that which preserves any sound also charms but its vetustée, containing for the moment as for it 1200 very sitted places
Tribune " Jojo Petrignani" (Is) famous Tribune hottest thanks to its supporters, can accommodate up to 2490 very sitted places, even if in this platform people are there more often debouts. It is occupied by the group of supporters Bastia 1905, currently the lung of Furiani, which is the worthy successor of the group Testa Mora 1992.
