Sport of combat
A sport of combat belongs to a family of sports activities generally proposing like forms competitive a confrontation between two combatants (called duel ).
Sport of combat and Martial art
Concept of " sport of combat" is distinct from that of Martial art, even if certain disciplines recut themselves.
Indeed, an martial art is by definition an art of the war, a discipline or all is allowed; because of potential dangerosity, the study of martial art in general is very posed.
Contrary, a sport of combat has competitions, rules in particular aiming at guaranteeing the physical integrity and a referee to make them apply. The sport of combat thus moves away on a side of the real combat, but on another side, allows to confront itself with an adversary having unforeseeable reactions and in a sporting spirit (Fair-play and Respect).
This two optics is basically different but historically dependant. The training of a discipline as an martial art was used before in the Asian countries like a technique of defense with its body vis-a-vis an attacker. The body of the individual was transformed into a genuine weapon of war and was used to fight against in the event of aggressions of people invaders. Thus, this vision of a martial discipline was used to defend its life at the time of Asian feudal times. However, we saw it, these martial techniques were transmitted with the passing of years all over the world whole, and were adapted to mentalities of the people whom they served. It is thus as one can notice an advent of sports of combat in Europe (i.e. of martial arts but in more sporting and martial form) contrasts about it with traditional Asian martial arts (made for the war).
