Sporopollénine

The sporopollénine is a principal Polymère natural constituting exine Pollen S and Spore S. This material, of lipidic nature, whose exact composition remains still unknown, was initially discovered in the external wall of the spores and named sporine , while that presents in the hull of pollen was named pollénine . Thereafter, sporine and pollénine , proving to be identical, was simply gathered under name sporopollénine . This material was then found in the unicellular walls of Algue S (e.g. Chlorella vulgaris ).

The properties of the sporopollénine are original since it deserves the record of the natural compound most resistant to the world. Indeed, the paléo Palynology, science of fossil or old pollens, could put at the day of the still intact grains of sporopollénine in magmatic rocks gone back to several million years. Thus, the exine profits, thanks to its component, of one heat strength, to the pressure, cold and with the majority of the chemical attacks.

The sporopollénine is regarded as nonallergen from the absence of nitrogen in its composition.
