Spondé (J XXXVI Sponde) was discovered in 2001 (from where its temporary designation S/2001 J 5). It belongs to the Groupe of Pasiphaé, made up of the irregular and retrograde moons which orbit Jupiter at distances between 22,8 and 24,1 Gm and with slopes varying of 144,5° with 158,3°.
It draws its name from the one of the Heures (Horae), that which governed the drinkings poured after the meal. The Hours, goddesses of the time and the seasons of the year, were the girls of Zeus and THEMIS.
