Splenectomy

The splenectomy is a surgical Ablation of the Rate.

Indications

  • Splénectomie of Hémostase in the event of traumatism of spleen: Formerly systematic gesture with the least splenic crack, the current attitude is more preserving, because of the potential infectious complications.
  • Certain forms of Leukemia S, in particular the chronic lymphoid Leukemia
  • Certain forms of disease of Hodgkin
  • excessive destruction of the plates (some Thrombopénie S), or of the red globules (Microsphérocytose, Anemia S haemolytic)

Complications

The splenectomy exposes to a greater sensitivity to the infections, in particular by the Pneumocoque and the Méningocoque. The Vaccination against the pneumococcus is recommended, a treatment prolonged preventive Antibiotique is also usual.
