Spirometra erinaceieuropaei
Spirometra erinaceieuropaei is a Plathelminthe which infests the pets and the human ones. At the man, the infection is called Sparganose . The worm has an interesting parasitic cycle: the adult worm Hermaphrodite is lodged in the Small intestine cats, dogs and various others Carnivore S where it can reach the size of 1,5 meter and where it lays eggs which are eliminated with the saddles from the animal. If these eggs arrive in fresh water, they will become ripe, will hatch and give a ciliée larva called Coracidium which will be introduced by small fresh water shellfish like the Cyclops. In shellfish, the larva will continue to change and will become a lengthened larva called larva Procercoïde which is not Pathogène. When the shellfish is consumed by a predator Poisson, Grenouille, the larva will continue its evolution and will be transformed into Larve plérocercoïde which can be pathogenic. when the second host becomes prey in his turn, the larva will parasitize new the Prédateur: bird, snake, rat, etc; When the larva arrives finally in a carnivore like the cat or the dog, it will be able to develop until its adult form and to become again the worm which will colonize the intestine of the carnivore and will again lay eggs which will be slackenings in nature. The man can be contaminated by the contact with animals carrying the disease (in the South-East Asia, traditional medicine treats the Conjonctivite S by applying a frog skin to the sick eye) or by the badly cooked meat consumption (frogs, etc…). The disease is translated at the man by a conjunctivitis or in consequence of the obstruction of the lymphatic channels by a elephantiasis. At the man, the larva cannot arrive at its adult form (parasitic dead end) and thus goes enkyster.
