Spinning top (tool)
A spinning top is a Machine-outil of Usinage of the Bois. It is used to profile wood sections. One can call these profiles of the Moulure S.
The tool is fixed on a vertical shaft placed in a hole (the light) in the middle of a steel or cast iron table. The adjustment depth is carried out thanks to a straight guide way located on both sides tool while more or less letting exceed the tool. The adjustment height is carried out using a crank often located on the side of the machine. One can also change reduction driving tree/by regulating the belt which is behind the cap located in backhander. new technology made it possible the spinning top to remove the cranks of adjustment thanks to a numerical adjustment as well as the courois all being automated and being actuated thanks to a potentiometer. Certain spinning tops are equipped:
- of a trainer : manual machining obliges the operator to approach his hands of the tool dangerously. The trainer is provided with rubber rollers (for adherence) which carries the part towards the tool and firmly maintains it against the guide. However, the use of the trainer is not possible for parts of too small sections;
- of a carriage guide which allows the installation of a mobile rule perpendicular to the tool to use the spinning top like a Tenonneuse;
- of a tilting tree: the slope of the tree makes it possible to increase the possibilities of machining (groove in a part of miter,…).
