Spezia
Spezia (Ligurian Spèsa , in French Spèce ) is a Italian city, chief town of the province of the same name in Ligurie.
The city is important a commercial port, which include/understand the Arsenal of the Navy in an important base of the Italian navy, a naval museum and many shipyards.
The gulf of Spezia ( the Gulf of the Poets ) and the littoral zone near are of a great tourist attraction with the Cinque Ground, five villages declared with UNESCO inheritance of humanity.

History
The port of Spezia, was during the Second world war the great naval base of the peninsula. On the basis of Spezia, to the west, the Gothic Line - last great German defensive position in Italy - of vital importance for the army Nazi, extended on the northern edge from the the Apennines until Pesaro on the Adriatique.
The city of Spezia obtained the gold medal of the Civil service for the part which she played during the exodus during the Second world war.
Shelley, poet British (husband of Mary Shelley, the author of Frankenstein and friend of Lord Byron), lived in the area and perishes at sea, at the time of a crossing of the gulf, in 1822.
